Abstract
The aim of this study is to suggest thought control strategy as moderator variables to post-event rumination known maintaining factor of social anxiety. Using Thought Control Questionnaire (TCQ) made by Wells and Davies (1994), examine relation between distraction strategy, reappraisal strategy, social control strategy, disclosure about adaptive strategies from earlier study. 424 university students engaged in research and carried out Post-event Rumination Questionnaire(PRQ), Thought Control Questionnaire(TCQ), Social Avoidance and Distress Scale(SADS). Analysis Methods is correlation analysis, figuring out connections between factors and then investigate moderating effects of thought control strategy by hierarchical regression analysis. The result of social control strategy, the lower factor of thought control strategy, indicates moderating effect between post-event rumination and social anxiety, using social control strategy could have effect to deplete social anxiety¡¯s level. But the higher the post-event rumination, social control strategy could have a small effect on the social anxiety as compared with low post-event rumination. Unlike social control strategy, distraction strategy and reappraisal strategy have no effect. Outcome of putting all the ideas together, this study is discussing about correlation with this study¡¯s result, earlier study, significance and limitation of study.
